The first issue of Sportstar was published on July 15, 1978, and for four decades, the magazine has tirelessly covered all sports, Indian as well as global. From featuring Bj�rn Borg on the cover of the first issue, the year he won the first of three consecutive French Open-Wimbledon doubles, to awarding a young � and still little-known � Sachin Tendulkar the Sportstar Trophy in 1987, the magazine has covered the biggest sportspersons in the world as well as the rising ones.In commemoration of Sportstar completing 40 years, our editorial team picked a champion athlete for each year, and an eclectic set of writers tomuse about them � Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Glanville, Shashi Tharoor, Vijay Amritraj, Rajdeep Sardesai and Ayaz Memon, among others.With each article reflecting on the importance of the year on the career of each sportsperson, 40 Years of Sportstar, 40 Superstars is our celebration of the emotion the player evokes in sports lovers
