Shirdi Sai Baba Temple A century of Solace
A wandering mendicant took shelter in a dilapidated masjid in the village of Shirdi, in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district in the mid-1800s. He gave it a Hindu name: Dwarkamai. He organised Hindu and Muslim religious ceremonies, saying sabka malik ek (one God governs all). People called him the Shirdi Sai Baba. His teachings drew from both Hinduism and Islam. A Century of Solace commemorates the centenary of the Baba's attainment of samadhi, and examines his philosophy and the influences that shaped him. It pays tribute to India's living tradition of secularism and syncretic vision of culture and spirituality.
