A history of the present

The release of ChatGPT by OpenAI in November 2022 brought Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the global spotlight like never before.   It sparked both excitement and concern-some hailed it as a revolutionary force with superhuman potential, while others warned of its possible doomsday consequences.

AI has undoubtedly made life and work easier for many, putting powerful technological tools in the hands of anyone with a smartphone.  However, for a significant portion of the skilled workforce, the fear of job displacement due to AI integration in the workplace is a pressing concern.

This book aims to explore both the opportunities and challenges  posed by AI’s rapid adoption.  It examines its applications across various sectors and its far-reaching implications for everything from ordinary retail purchases to national security.
